I read they have 140 million players around the world. Assuming 25% of those are paying, even if it's only $10 a month that's quite a bit of money. Could World of Tanks be generating 300 million a month?

A month? Nah, in a year, perhaps (or even more). Also, there's a difference between active players and number of players, same goes for the percentage of paying customers, should be lower than 25%.

I didn't said they weren't, but they're not making 300M a month, a google search and apparently they got 475M in 2017, that would be 40M a month.

This is why things which seem obviously in need of a fix by the playerbase don't get addressed. As far as Wargaming is concerned "If it ain't broke." Of course they do work on the game but you know what I mean.

They definitely don't have 140 million players that regularly play, that might just be the number of players who have ever played before.

Their recent trend has been about half a billion a year, I'm curious to know what their expenses are.

The true player base it what really determines WG's revenues. I doubt there are actually 140 mill active players worldwide.. Look at the NA-East server population and the other servers. Add or estimate that. Take a percentage who actually spend money and multiply that by $3.. Any guess??

I think they throw around the 140 million number as life time of people that have subscribed to play the game, the actual number of people playing at this very day is unknown, could be a few hundred thousand. They don't have subscription based model, so you can't really tell how badly their population declines etc.

World of Warcraft during the Lich King expansion, they had 12+ million subscribers, they were making around 180 million a month on subscriptions alone, their real number was around 200-500 million a month, I don't think this game has ever reached that, not even close.

Bloomberg reports today that Victor Kislyi, founder and CEO of Cyprus-based World of Tanks developer Wargaming, has a net worth of$1 billion. Feb 25, 2016The effort has valued the business at $1.5 billion.

Wargaming is one of the industry's most successful creators of free-to-play online games, which produce revenue through premium accounts offering players more credits that enable them to move faster through increasingly difficult levels of play. Kislyi controls 64 percent of the Cyprus-based business in his name and through a 25.5 percent stake held by his father, according to Wargaming's 2013 semi-annual financial report. The business has 4,000 employees on four continents and revenue of $590 million in 2015, according to data compiled by Bloomberg and estimates by analysts.

Wargaming is investing in European startups to develop its own live-streaming service and pushing into the U.S., where it bought Chicago-based Day 1 Studios for $20 million in 2013 to adapt World of Tanks to Xbox and PS4. Kislyi has also invested $26 million to develop Wargaming's E-Sports league, which held online tournaments in cities including Moscow, Las Vegas and Warsaw last year that attracted 850,000 players and paid $3.3 million in prize money, the company's largest-ever payout.

But the problem with gaming franchises is that they can tank from one year to the next.
Wargaming is on that path slowly, they keep changing the core of the game, new physics, arty stun mechanics, a few more of these game changing mechanics and the game is not wot anymore, people will leave, your history cannot keep you afloat, it's the actual game.

Apparently console doesn't make enough or they wouldn't be closing offices and laying off people.

It's because RaiBot is so expensive.  She's got clauses in her contract allowing her to expense the vet and upkeep costs of her cats.

Good for them,

I hope they make a fortune. because if they don't make enough - they close doors, the game goes away and people lose their jobs.

I agree. The more they make, the more they can put in the game. I try to spend some money on the game. Trust me I am doing my part for WoT financially.
